Earth Day Festival 2010 in the Children's Garden was fun for all!

Our Earth Day Festival 2010 was a sweet time for our families and children with lots of sunshine and smiles all around.
Thanks, Farmer Jones

This note comes from Heather Williams who taught the Nature Art class from 1 to 2 pm.

To Farmer Jones...
"The children and I and the parents who joined us on our walk .... all absolutely loved drawing the shapes in the garden. It was a very big high!!! I would LOVE to do this more.
The girl scouts led the way, shouting out shapes and stopping to draw. One little girl, not quite 2 feet tall, signed in and took the paper and board and pencil and said, "But I don't draw perfectly." I just responded, saying "That's OK. We're not supposed to draw perfectly. We're just having a good time drawing shapes and doing the best we can." Her mother walked with her and she drew every step of the way. Quite a day indeed."
Thanks, Heather

To Farmer Jones...
"Thank you - Shelby really enjoyed the Earth Day festival. I would say she most enjoyed the hands on activities for kids, and was very pleased to see you (she’s been telling us all about you - from Hannalei's Gardening class - and was very proud that we finally got to meet you!). She made a beautiful recycled art project, planted and brought home a tomato plant, a compost container, and learned that cantaloupe is rich in vitamin A and C. All in all, I would say the Earth Day festival was successful, rewarding, and Shelby really got a lot out of the experience.

Thanks again for sharing your love of gardening with our children, what a great opportunity and experience to share!
